Molten basketballs are starting to gain some popularity here in San Antonio, but they are nearly impossible to find at local retailers! I recently did some research on the line-up of Molten basketballs, and I decided to order one of their Elite Competition, indoor balls. I decided to purchase the BGLX-Series basketball for the aesthetic look and premium leather material. Watch the following video for an up-close look at this FIBA official, indoor basketball.
Initial Thoughts:
This ball is well-crafted and has a beautiful design! When comparing this ball to the Wilson Evolution, the first thing I noticed was that this ball feels about 10-times harder right out of the box! To be fair, Molten does say that it might take a couple weeks to break-in the leather… Regardless, this ball looks & feels great and I can only imagine how much better it will become after the leather gets a little softer.
This basketball currently retails for $139.98 on the Molten USA website, but you can find it much cheaper on Amazon.
Here are a few specs about the Molten BGLX basketball:
- Official Basketball of FIBA
- Signature 12 panel design
- Top grain leather cover
- Flat-pebble surface
- Nylon Wound
- Butyl bladder
- Indoor use
I hope you found this product review to be helpful, and I will follow-up with another review of the Molten BGLX after I have given it a little more playing time.
